It is said that,
"dance is a perpendicular expression of horizontal desire".
- George Bernard Shaw
The life is so transient but to unload all worries and to shuttle away from the moribund city life the today’s youth is getting all the way to traditional dancing. This international dance day its time to re evaluate the rise in number of guys and gals taking up the Indian style dancing. Although with the increasing popularity of dance reality shows like Jhalak Dikhla Ja, Dance India Dance and Dancing queen where Majority of the dances can be categorized as filmy and non Indian, still when a classical dance comes up once a while, it brings with itself fresh air to the viewers who are definitely happy to see something Indian. If we say that it’s only the western dances like Salsa, Hip-Hop, Tango etc which are sought after by the youth its definitely a great mistake for the youth is changing. It’s looking for some thing which could bring out the best in themselves and not only that the changing life style and the modern turn to our ancient culture have greatly transformed the outlook of the youth towards the Indian traditional dancing. As compared to the previous year there good rise in the number of students of traditional dancing across the dance institutes but it has also been seen that they also check out the non Indian styles. It’s not any thing like demeaning our culture but the purpose of dancing various with person to person. The college goers and students love moving to the music, they enjoy passionate and thrilling dance style. For many dance is something like as Lord Byron put it-
"On with dance! Let joy be unconfined; no sleep till morn, when youth and pleasure meet to chase the glowing hours with flying feet",
but for too many others it also the hidden language of soul. And it is what the Indian dance is where we search through our soul, the god who is within ourselves, in everything around us, whom we love and with we can share or sorrows and joy. they have started understanding the philosophy of Moksha/ Salvation, and the Indian dancing is the only dance where we lead up to god , for the basic theory of Indian dancing is nothing but "Devo Butva Devam Yajet" i.e. "to worship God, become God " it offers the followers a new outlook to the world full of misery and mirth. The enjoyment of the dances those are western is so very momentary but ecstasy of the Indian dances is long lasting satisfying and soulful. This is so because of its evolution from the text which delivers us Indians with food for thought.
“There’s nothing to hide from God and man,
God borne the nature and man the city life,
The dilemma is where I should go”The Indian dance looks for God as a lover yearns for the beloved, and thus the city life and its perils are eased in the love of god through dancing and this single thought is enough for the youth to understand the nature of these dance style. Various dance festivals are being organized across India to promote the Indian Dances and the ones who are working hard to bring it to the lives of common man and make it a part of each and every family’s tradition. The current generation youth has really transformed the Indian dances and made it a progressive creative way top reaches the ultimate goal of life rather craving for the momentary glares of life. There are no fewer takers for the classical Indian dances than western foot beats. Hope this increasing popularity of the Indian dance s keeps its show. And our traditions thrive at the behest of young and vibrant dancers who look these dances with respect.
